London, ON, 17 Aug 2024 – On Saturday, local MPP Terence Kernaghan visited the Museum of Ontario Archaeology to unveil renovations to its space thanks to a $111,700 Capital grant they received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
“The Museum of Ontario Archaeology connects Londoners and the region with our history, and culture, and looks forward by building partnerships with Indigenous neighbours in a welcoming, inclusive space” said Terence Kernaghan, MPP for London North Centre. “I am always impressed by the thoughtful and meaningful programming that inspires a deeper understanding of the region’s cultural and natural environment and how it’s changed over time. I am deeply thankful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for recognizing their great work with this generous grant. I look forward to seeing even more Londoners and surrounding community members experience this wonderful facility.”
The OTF grant has allowed the Museum of Ontario Archaeology to renovate its space to include updated washroom facilities and a hydration station. This significant upgrade aims to enhance the visitor experience at the museum, particularly for those enjoying the outdoor space on the Lawson Historic Site. The provincial agency awarded the grant to the MOA in late fall of 2023 and renovations were completed this spring.
“The $111,700 grant has empowered our organization to enhance its public amenities, inviting more visitors to explore and engage with the museum and the surrounding grounds in Medway Valley,” said Rhonda Bathurst, Executive Director for the Museum of Ontario Archaeology. “This investment aims to enrich the visitor experience, encouraging prolonged stays and an appreciation for the diversity of activities available here.”
The Museum of Ontario Archaeology is open six days a week for general admission throughout the summer. Pre-registered tours and customized activities can be booked from Monday-Saturday, September through June. For further details, visit www.archaeologymuseum.ca.
