Afternoon Drop-In Activity!

Pre-Registration for activities is required!

This August spend weekday afternoons with the MOA with our new Drop-In activities on-site!
On each of these days, from 1 to 4 PM the MOA will host a fun new activity for you to complete!

Dates: Tuesday August 10th to Friday 13th & Tuesday August 17th and Friday August 20th.
Location: On-site at the Museum of Ontario Archaeology
Cost: $3 per child, per activity!
Adults are free and are required to remain onsite during the activity.

Week 1; August 10th to 13th

Pottery Making: In this activity, you will be given some clay to make a pinch pot! These are made with just your hands and are the first pottery many people learn.

Longhouse Building: In this activity, you will learn more about Longhouses and have the chance to build your own from the ground up!

Archaeology Terrarium: In this activity, you will create your own mini archaeological terrarium! Learn more about crop marking and grow your own grass!

Paint the Layers: In this activity, you’ll explore some layers of an archaeological site by painting the layers by numbers! Can you identify all the artifacts?

Week 2; August 17th to 20th

Pottery Decoration: In this activity, you’ll have a chance to explore pottery and ceramic decorations using pre-cut scratch paper shapes and toothpicks! Are you able to match some of the pattern examples?

Zooarchaeology Origami: In this activity, you’ll learn how to do origami and transform some paper into some super cool animals!

Transfer Printing: In this activity, you’ll transfer images onto fun shapes and learn a little more about experimental archaeology!

Digging & Cookie Excavation: In these two activities, you’ll get your hands a little dirty and learn more about archaeology and excavation!


Important Information

Please note this is a Drop-In activity, an adult is required to remain with the children.


The activities will be completed outside in order to socially distance and under a tent to protect from the sun and in case of light rain.


In the event of significant rain, a refund can be issued OR registration can be moved to a different day. The activity will still proceed if there is light rain.


You will be sent a email the day before your selected activity in order to fill out a COVID-19 screening form.
