Bear Root is a sacred medicine that can only be found in the mountains or in the hills of the wilderness. The bear wakes up from hibernation, the bear then goes for a walk in the forest and finds the bear root growing in layers of the ground with green leaves and purple berries. The bear digs with his paws until purification as there are seven trees within the bear: honesty, truth, wisdom, bravery, respect, humility and love. Four bear tracks with copper found in the earth helps to remind our spirit to keep grounded and walk softly upon our Mother the earth.

Jeffrey George is an Ojibway artist from the Kettle and Stoney Point First Nation, situated along the shores of Lake Huron in Ontario, Canada.
