Western Workstudy

As an affiliate of the University of Western Ontario, the Museum employs University of Western Ontario (UWO) Work study students to help in various positions.
To be eligible for the listings below, you must be
pre-approved for Work study at Western.

These positions are currently full for Fall/Winter 2013-2014.
Please check back in April 2014.

Museum Gallery and Gift Shop Assistant

Working weekends, the student will oversee the Museum of Ontario Archaeology’s public gallery and gift shop. The candidate will greet and interact with visitors to the Museum, provide them with information on the Museum and starting them on a self-guided tour. Processing admissions and gift shop purchases through a cash register system, inventory management, as well as other daily duties are involved.

Birthday Party Animator/Programmer

Deliver and assist in the planning of themed Birthday programming offered by the Museum primarily on weekends. Students looking to obtain teaching experience and working with children would benefit from this position.

Education Assistant

Assisting the Museum of Ontario Archaeology Education officer with the planning and delivering of curriculum based programming for students of all ages. Assist in the planning for and delivery of themed day camps and special events offered by the Museum. Students looking to obtain teaching experience, museum experience or archaeology experience need apply.

Museum Curatorial Assistant

Students will work off campus at the Museum of Ontario Archaeology processing archaeological collections, including cataloguing, re-boxing and shelving existing collections; assisting in exhibit design and site interpretation. Flexible work schedule.

This position is currently filled for Fall/Winter 2013-2014.

Junior Camp Counselors

Junior Camp counselors are required for the Museum of Ontario Archaeology’s summer season. The successful candidate will be enrolled in intersession and/or summer classes at Western University for 2014 and Eligible and approved for the Work Study program. Experience working with children and first aid training are assets. The Junior Camp counselors will assist the Senior Camp Counselor with the delivery of daily activities (Monday – Friday) for the Museum’s Summer Day Camp for children ages 5-9.
